Education and Leisure Fund
Suanne Kiges
Project Manager

This fund pays up to $400.00 for one course, no more than once every two years, for consumers wishing to pursue their interests.   It is on a multiple lottery draw system.  It is disbursed three times per year (Fall, Winter, and Spring).  There is still a big advantage to getting your application in the first week it is available, because then you will be in more draws.

This fund is very popular and there is major competition for it.  It is advertised at all teams, units, and agencies when it is available.  Any course offered by a legitimate business, educational institution, community centre, or gym that issues a receipt is eligible.

There have been many consumers that have benefited greatly from this fund, as it is based on the premise that personal choice, whether it is pleasure, life style enhancement, or job skill training and education, is the crucial issue.  Always keep your eyes out for the posting of this fund.

The next applications with criteria for the fund will go out to all teams units and agencies on July 12, 2010.  It will also be available here, on-line. Check the news page. The deadline to get your application in by is Tuesday August 3, 2010

For those who don’t qualify for the fund, for whatever reason, I sometimes know of other resources available for free or low cost courses and leisure activities.  You are welcome to call Suanne at (604) 736-2033 Ext. 2202.
