This Winter choose the right care at the right place!
‘Tis the season for winter cheer! To help you prepare for the holidays and winter season, VCH is excited to announce the official launch of the 2020 winter care campaign.
This year’s regional winter care campaign was created in partnership with the Divisions of Family Practice, Providence Health Care, Doctors of BC, the British Columbia Pharmacy Association and LifeLabs to inform people how to access the right care at the right place over the winter season, and ensure care providers are aware of the services available.
We know this time of year comes with a surge of people visiting VCH’s emergency departments (EDs), most notably around the holidays. This has been an extraordinary year as we manage COVID-19 and we want to support you in helping your patients and clients seek safe care in appropriate places this season, and in-turn limit unnecessary visits to our Emergency Departments.
To support you and your clients to learn about appropriate alternatives to EDs, we’ve created messaging for staff and physicians to inform clients and patients about health care services available over the holidays and all winter long. The BC Injury Research & Prevention Unit has also provided resources on how to avoid the Emergency Department during the busy winter season. We will be sending out posters and take-away cards to community health centres (CHCs), clinics, EDs, labs, and other key locations throughout the Vancouver Coastal Health region.
