Peer Worker Contract

The role:  Willow Bean Café is looking for an outgoing, bubbly peer mentor with Barista and or cashier experience to join our team!
This is a contract position. The candidate will work a maximum of 20 hours per week

Job responsibilities include: 

  • Preparing and serving brewed and mixed coffee, tea, and cold drinks
  • Perform accurate cash & credit handling as well as POS procedures
  • Eager to learn and be trained on the use of different equipment and stations
  • Mentoring and coaching café trainees
  • Maintain and engage in a respectful, professional, and positive workplace
  • Cleaning/sanitizing all work stations and seating areas
  • Greet, and welcome each guest
  • Provide information on all beverage items and food items
  • Understand and comply with drink standards and equipment procedures
  • Ensure proper opening and closing sanitization procedures are followed

Qualifications:  The successful individual will:

  1. have completed a Peer Support Training Program (preferred)
  2. have personal experience receiving services within the mental health system
  3. have effective strategies for dealing with stress
  4. be able to work cooperatively with mental health staff, consumers and family members
  5. be able to work with a culturally diverse population
  6. be able to present in a professional manner, and
  7. be empathetic, patient and supportive.
  8. Barista and or cashier experience is an asset, but training and support are available at all times.

Rate of pay is $17.00 per hour.
