The role: Willow Bean Café is looking for an outgoing, bubbly peer mentor with Barista and or cashier experience to join our team!
This is a contract position. The candidate will work a maximum of 20 hours per week
Job responsibilities include:
- Preparing and serving brewed and mixed coffee, tea, and cold drinks
- Perform accurate cash & credit handling as well as POS procedures
- Eager to learn and be trained on the use of different equipment and stations
- Mentoring and coaching café trainees
- Maintain and engage in a respectful, professional, and positive workplace
- Cleaning/sanitizing all work stations and seating areas
- Greet, and welcome each guest
- Provide information on all beverage items and food items
- Understand and comply with drink standards and equipment procedures
- Ensure proper opening and closing sanitization procedures are followed
Qualifications: The successful individual will:
- have completed a Peer Support Training Program (preferred)
- have personal experience receiving services within the mental health system
- have effective strategies for dealing with stress
- be able to work cooperatively with mental health staff, consumers and family members
- be able to work with a culturally diverse population
- be able to present in a professional manner, and
- be empathetic, patient and supportive.
- Barista and or cashier experience is an asset, but training and support are available at all times.
Rate of pay is $17.00 per hour.
