SPARK: 1 idea, 100 ways is a community art project designed to:
- Promote the diversity of creativity
- Help raise awareness of mental health
- Help raise awareness of Consumer Initiative Fund
- Emphasize the importance of incorporating art into the recovery process
We invite members of the mental health community to join our art project by creating an artwork using our collective theme of the Phoenix bird.
The Phoenix, which is featured in the CIF logo, is a mythical bird that is reborn from its own ashes. It symbolizes recovery and renewal –no matter how difficult things may get, you will get back up on your feet and ´rise out of the ashes´.
What each person chooses to do with the Phoenix theme is up to him or her; use the symbolism and animal to create your own unique artwork. Please feel free to use any medium of your choice. (paint, photography, poetry, etc…) However all artworks must remain 2D and be sized to 8.5″ x 11″ (letter size).
We aim to collect 100 diverse works to complete our online gallery with hopes of assembling an exhibition of all 100 works in Vancouver. Alone each submission is a representation of one person and altogether the artworks make up the diverse population and perspective of the mental health community
