Program: A Queer State of Mind

GROUP OVERVIEW The Queer State of Mind Group will provide a safe, supportive environment where LGBQT2S-identified people can come together and share what’s going on in their lives, whether it relates directly or indirectly to their mental health and or addiction issues. The goal of the group is to create a safer space where participants can be themselves fully and openly without fear of judgments. Meetings will also include self-care activities and social events. Details of the position:

· Group will take place once a week in North Vancouver at The Canadian Mental Health Association – North and West Vancouver Branch.

· Facilitator will lead group in the discussion of topics such as grief and loss, spirituality, dating, and sexuality and sex education (safer sex) as well as self-care

· Group capacity will be 8-15
Abilities and Values

· A deep understanding of the LGBQT2S community

· Strong group facilitation skills

· Commitment to working from a place of anti-oppression and harm reduction

· Respond to change with openness and flexibility

· An understanding of mental health issues

2 hours a week @ 18.50 hour
