CMHA Vancouver-Fraser is looking for a casual Peer Navigator to share their own consumer knowledge and lived experience of mental illness/substance use to assist clients to increase their community inclusion.

MISSION STATEMENT

As the nation-wide leader and champion for mental health, CMHA facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience and support recovery from mental illness.

JOB SUMMARY

In accordance with established vision, mission, focus and values of the agency, the Peer Navigator (PN) shares his/her own consumer knowledge and lived experience of mental illness/substance use to assist clients to increase their community inclusion/citizenship while  successfully accessing and navigating community supports and resources.  The PN collaborates with the client and other service providers to meet individual needs and situational requirements.  The PN represents clients as a formal advocate in order to assist clients in effectively obtaining service in settings such as the social/supportive housing system, financial support systems, the justice system, hospitals and other health services, and community services.
