New Year, New Adventures
Here are a few local opportunities for folks who would like to get involved, be active, and create more community connections.

More Than a Free Meal
Carnegie Community Action Project, 401 Main Street
The CCAP works to increase welfare rates, improve social housing, and slow gentrification in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. CCAP supports DTES residents to speak out about the changes they would like to see in the neighbourhood. Join them on Fridays at 11:15 am for their weekly volunteer meetings. DTES residents who want to work on getting better housing and incomes and stop gentrification are welcome to attend. Lunch is provided! (Please note: If you are not a low-income DTES resident and/or if you are a researcher, please contact info@carnegieaction.org before attending.)

Trade with Bunz!
www.bunz.com
Register for a free account with Bunz to start trading and bartering with folks in your community!  It has never been easier to safely trade things like furniture, houseplants, clothing and more. The website allows you to search by location, and as you trade you can earn “BTZ” a special Bunz currency that can be spent at local businesses.

Vancouver Street Soccer League
Strathcona Park Oval, 857 Malkin Avenue
The Vancouver Street Soccer League is a volunteer-run organization that reaches out to individuals who have been homeless, are currently homeless, or are at risk of homelessness, as well as individuals who feel marginalized within their communities, or are recovering from drug and alcohol addictions. They address these issues through inclusivity and soccer – believing that lives can be enhanced through the principles of fair play, community building, supportive partnerships, and health and safety. Weekly practices are held on Thursdays and Sundays from 10 am to 12 pm at Strathcona Park Oval (southeast corner of park).
