I am gathering information about our current mobile response to individuals seeking mental health help in order to broaden our understanding of what the realities are surrounding this service. Throughout our province, there is a growing interest in serving our mentally ill/addicted persons in more appropriate and compassionate ways. Collaboration between service providers, emergency services, and government is gathering momentum to make positive changes to how we respond to individuals in crisis. I believe family experiences should also be part of these conversations and am reaching out to invite their feedback.

Have you or your family member been in any contact with a police/Mental Health car response? What was the interaction like? Was there conversation with both police and MH worker, or if not, which did you speak with?

Was the experience positive? Negative? What else would you like to say about your experience?

Have you called for a police/MH car response and none was available to help? Do you know why not?

Please include where you were calling from; whether for VPD Car 87/88 or RCMP mobile cars, as it will help us understand how this mobile response varies throughout the province.

This is not a formal survey, but the information gathered will be no less valuable. All personal information will be kept completely confidential.

Lisa
